My dad always claimed that my first words were "That's not fair!"
I find it very hard to stand by and watch someone being deprived of their rights or being denied access to things that others are able to access without barriers.
I recognize that there are many ways and strategies to fight injustice and honor everyone who is doing this important work.
These days, my work is often focused on working with other white folks to find their sources and positions of power and to use that power to remove injustice. Most of the time, that means letting go of power. Being guided by people who know more about the experience of injustice.
My role here, at Transforming Futures, is to support the expertise and wisdom of the founder and the board of Transforming Futures.
